Arcangelo Sassolino was born in Montecchio Maggiore, Italy, in 1967 where he still lives and works. Thanks to a deep interest in mechanics and technology, the artist opens new meanings and possibilities to sculpture making his works the result of a close dialogue between art and physics. Pressure, gravity, acceleration and heat are the cornerstones of his artistic practice that pushes the limits of matter by testing its resistance. His works embody the inherent conflicts of the materials involved and push us to contemplate the risk of collapse of the work as a fundamental part of his experience.

Archangel Sassolino has held solo exhibitions in several European cities but also in China and the USA. His appreciation is also demonstrated by the various acquisitions by public institutions such as the Grand Palais, Paris, France; Broad Art Museum, East Lansing, USA; Palazzo Ducale, Venice, Italy; Fundación Pablo Atchugarry, Punta del Este, Uruguay; Le 104, Paris, France; MART Museum, Rovereto, Italy; Swiss Institute; New York, USA; Guggenheim Collection, Venice, Italy; FRAC Museum Regional, Reims, France; Autocenter and MICA MOCA, Berlin, Germany; Tinguely Museum, Basel, Switzerland; CCC Strozzina, Florence, Italy; Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Venice, Italy; Kunsthalle Göppingen, Göppingen, Germany; ZKM, Karlsruhe, Germany; and Fondazione Arnaldo Pomodoro, Milan, Italy.
