Over the course of his career, Piangiamore has received several prestigious awards, including the Premio Cairo in 2015 and the Global Art Programme at Khoj Studios, New Delhi, in 2010. His work continues to resonate on the international stage, establishing him as one of the most compelling figures in contemporary art today.

Piangiamore’s poetics are marked by a “restorative” dimension of art. In his work, imagination functions as a tool of detour and suspension—a way to interrupt the overwhelming flow of stimuli that undermines our capacity for attention and analysis. What makes his research distinctive is its focus not on a preformed or idealized imaginary, but on the natural, the ordinary, and the contingent—elements we encounter every day—transformed into forms that subvert habitual perception.

Alessandro Piangiamore lives and works in Rome.
